Leg Muscle Atrophy

Post a new topicby gott1936 on Sun Jan 17, 2010 2:36 pm

Since I had knee surgery my leg muscles have wasted away. I have no calf muscle on my left leg and other muscle on both leg have almost disappeared. I was on a statin drug, Lovastatin, I had a spinal and knee surgery to remove a torn portion of the meniscus. Almost two weeks after surgery my leg muscles started ache and hurt, but my GP thought I might be favoring the leg that had surgery. 8 months later he told me I might be having statin drug side effects. I stopped taking the statin drug and my legs stopped aching, but a lot of my leg muscles had wasted away I have been in pain to just sit down or get up from a chair for three years now with no relief.
I have been to two neurologist and have taken EMG and MRI test without the neurologist solving my problem. My questionn is was it the statin drug, the spinal or the knee surgery which caused the problem?
